Bridging the Gaps: Podcasts on ecology, health, energy, well-being…..

Our new podcast series, Bridging the Gaps, is co-organised by Feasta and the European Health Futures Forum. It’s a follow-on to our 2019 series Beyond the Obvious, also done in collaboration with the EHFF.

The hosts, Seán O’Conláin and Caroline Whyte, explore a range of topics with guests from a wide variety of backgrounds. We plan to upload 10 podcasts in the course of 2020. Please feel free to comment below.

Hope in the Face of Disaster – Creating a sustainable, viable, future path for civilisation

This paper by John Sharry explores the many crises that civilisation and humanity will face over the coming decades some of which are already starting to have an impact. The paper proposes a central cause to these crises and particularly explores the widespread psychological inertia in the face of these vast problems. Some potential constructive choices that individuals, communities and nations could yet make are outlined.

John Sharry – Cultivating Hope and Managing Despair

John Sharry, a family and child psychotherapist, looked at the way communities are responding to the current crises. He drew on modern psychological models of motivation and change, and of how people deal with threat and loss, to suggest strategies which can be used both to help individuals change and to galvanise communities into collective action.
