Basic Income from Commons : letter to Obama

Smart Taxes likes the basic income idea which we have developed in various contexts in Feasta. We believe it does not cut across the guaranteed job proposal under MMT. In fact, money/currency treated as a commons instead of a public good works rather well in the euro-zone situation where most member states are resistant to political integration. [...]

Sailing craft for a post-collapse world

by Dmitry Orlov, from Fleeing Vesuvius. Land transport will be costly, difficult and dangerous after the industrial system has broken down. Moving goods and people by water will be a better option even for quite short distances but what sort of boats will be needed and what materials will be available to build them?

Maria Damanaki responds to de minimis vote

Last week the European Parliament comfortably passed a motion to call on the Commission to double the ceiling for de minimis aid to the fishing industry. 10 out of the 12 Irish MEPs voted in favour.
