Feasta is contracting an Accounts Assistant

Feasta’s work is expanding in response to a surge of interest in the transition to a Wellbeing Economy. We currently have multiple projects and partnerships in areas including climate justice, local food economies, intergenerational justice, the financial transition, and mining policy.

As a charity, good governance and financial resilience are fundamental to Feasta’s operations. Owing to our expansion, we’ll now need some assistance with the administrative tasks that are so essential to running a healthy organisation.

Job Description: Feasta accounts assistant (contract position)

Client: Feasta CLG (www.feasta.org)

Reporting to: the Feasta Staff Liaison Committee

Job Purpose: Financial and Statutory Compliance Management

• To ensure the financial health of the organisation by administering accounting operations to meet statutory, legal and charitable governance requirements and a robust reporting regime.

• To provide accurate financial information and reports to support the organisation’s management, governance and decision-making processes.

• To support the Board of Trustees and Administrator in monitoring and maintaining compliance with statutory, legal and charitable governance requirements.

Key responsibilities:

Finance

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports in a timely manner, including:

• Keep accurate records for all transactions, including entry into accounts software

• Maintain and manage the procurement process of the organisation

• Support event participants in respect of the expense claim process

• Liaise with Project Managers in respect of project cost management and ensuring project spreadsheets match the accounts software entries

• Preparation of monthly reconciliations and reports

• Prepare funder and project reports, as required, compiled in line with relevant funding agreements

• Prepare files for financial audits and liaising with auditors, when required

• Assist with budget preparation

• Provide support to the Board of Trustees as required

• Ensure the confidentiality of all information in any media or format

Additional Responsibilities

• Attend internal meetings and provide reports and information as required

• Liaise with staff as required to function effectively within the organisation

• Participate in regular supervision with the Administrator

• Undertake other duties as may be reasonably required from time-to-time

Desirable Skills and Experience

• At least 3 years previous experience in a similar role

• Accounting Technician qualification or similar qualification and/or experience

• Demonstrate strong Management Accounting knowledge

• Experienced in budgeting and Financial Reporting

• Knowledge of FRS 102 SORP and experience in not-for -profit sector

• Demonstrate an ability to take ownership and drive issues through to completion

• Demonstrate an ability to manage workloads to meet tight reporting timelines

• Problem identification and solving skills

• The candidate will be a self-starter, flexible and comfortable working on their own initiative

• Excellent IT literacy and administrative skills

• Experience with Quick Books is not essential but advantageous

Terms:

• This is a part-time contract (estimated 15 hours per month), for a six-month period

• The contractor is responsible for their own taxes

• Estimated fee income is €300.00 per month
