GET INVOLVED WITH FEASTA We believe that everyone has a part to play in the transition to sustainability. Here are a few of the ways you can get involved with Feasta: Become an associate Feasta member and participate in the online discussion groups Become an associate Feasta member and participate in the online discussion groups We have two levels of Feasta membership: associate membership and full membership. You can become an associate member for free, and this will enable you to participate in many of Feasta's online discussions. To register for associate membership please go to our registration page. The discussion groups are a great way to get in contact and debate with other Feasta members...without having to travel anywhere! Feasta's general discussion group has been established to promote and popularise research analysing the economic system in order to identify the reasons for its destructive characteristics. It also seeks to establish the basis on which sustainable economic systems will have to run. The articles for discussion forum is a space for full Feasta members to post articles they have written. Comments and suggestions about the articles are welcome from everyone. Feasta members and associate members can also post book reviews for discussion on our book review forum. For an annual subscription, you can become a full member of Feasta. This gives you the opportunity to support the foundation's work and entitles you to two newsletters, quarterly email bulletins, and concessions on our events and publications. Full members can also access the members' area of the site and make use of the member profiles to contact other Feasta members with similar interests or who live in your area. They will also be able to download copyrighted material from the site. The full member's forum is a place for general discussions which are open to full members only. To apply for full membership of Feasta, please go to our full membership page. Make a financial contribution to Feasta We are a registered charity. Our income is derived from member's subscriptions, donations and grants for specific projects. Any donation you can make, however small, is greatly appreciated and needed. If you are interested in making a donation please go to the donations page. One of the many benefits of FEASTA membership is the opportunity of joining a Working Group. FEASTA Working Groups form a key part of our self-development, by preparing ourselves through education and organisational development to engage the mainstream. Working Groups are formed around a range of issues - such as Land & Housing, Food, Money, and Health - with plenty of scope for new involvement. Some examples of the Working Group's recent activities: - The Energy and Climate group has as many members in Britain as it has in Ireland with others around the world. It is currently one of the most active groups within Feasta. The main thrust of its work in 2005 and 2006 has been an exploration of the effect that very much higher energy prices are likely to have, whether these arise as a result of oil and gas depletion or because of restrictions on fossil fuel use in order to prevent catastrophic climate change. The FEASTA Education Group has an excellent track record in developing and implementing education initiatives. The group's activities are wide-ranging and innovative - organising a conference on third-level sustainability policy, creating a website & radio show targeted at teenagers, and developing a community education toolkit. To get involved or for more information contact the . The FEASTA Food Group organised an international conference on Food Security in the Age of Energy Crises in June 2005. The conference focussed on how diminishing energy supplies will affect the production and distribution of our food, and ways to respond to and prepare for this impending crisis. . The Working Groups are a great way to get active, meet other FEASTA members and make a difference. For more information on a particular group, check out other sections on the website or contact the convenor. Here is a list of all groups, and the name of the convenor for each group: - Richard Douthwaite - Davie Philip - Mark Garavan - Davie Philip - Michael Leyden - Bruce Darrell - Elizabeth Cullen - Emer O'Siochru - Richard Douthwaite - Richard Douthwaite Members' Weekend The Community Learning Toolkit The Community Learning Toolkit is a product of Feasta's Education Working Group.
